Room of the Year
The period fire place, coffee table and a statement light create a focal point in the room
Neutral colours are made visually stimulating by the use of various textures and finishes
Modular wall unit fits perfectly in the room
Sofas are upholstered in a distressed leather look fabric, yet are soft and comfortable
Mirrored alcoves reflect and multiply the light and artwork in the room
The frame work was made to match the rest of the furniture
Modular wall in high gloss wood veneer had lovely details like leather handles
The light and the artwork reflect in the glass top and the mirrored bottom shelf of the coffee table
Intricate design with a wonderful texture on the Roman blinds creates a great back drop for objects displayed in front of them

This Victorian property is generously proportioned and was nearly finished. It was actually featured in our previous nominations in The Northern Design Awards. The property is beautifully designed in a contemporary style whilst retaining all original features, like elaborate covings and fire places. There was just one room remained, left untouched since the previous owners. The property already has an informal lounge with a TV so this room was needed to be a more sophisticated space, with no TV, where guests and owns can relax socialising and listening to the music. The style had to be in keeping with the rest of the property, modern and un-fussy, in a neutral palette, providing the longevity to the design and flexibility in the future. All period features needed to be restored and the design had to blend the contemporary and the traditional elements with an air of sophisticated glamour.
