The owners of The Plough enlisted us to design their pub / restaurant in Harborne. We designed the interior to reintroduce traditional architectural elements and soften the venue to create a homely feel. A ‘retro lodge’ concept was established, using quirky features such as wall mounted condiment holders made out of cigar moulds. The rear garden was designed as an ‘outdoor lounge’, industrial scheme to complement the interior and connect the spaces.

We have a continued involvement at The Plough, taking a holistic approach to the venue; including everything from the menu offer and artwork to the branding and marketing. Working with the client over a period of ten years, we’ve developed a strong relationship where we can openly discuss and brainstorm new ideas.

Due to the popularity of The Plough, planning consent has now been granted for a glazed structure to the rear of the property which will marry the interior and outdoor spaces, providing a flexible dining area that is unrestricted by season.

Our design at The Plough is constantly progressing. This evolutionary ethos really shines through in both a macro and micro design approach, with vintage up-cycled finds and quirky detailing. As resourceful designers, we strived to reuse and recycle the simplest of items in distinctive ways. The pub is now a unique dining environment: warm and comfortable with a nod towards ‘eclectic eccentric’.

Quality is of major importance to the client and is the crux of the establishment. The design and offer has been realised using the highest level of attention to detail. Furniture, materials and even ingredients have been carefully sourced, locally to minimise the environmental ‘tread’ of the business and encourage relationships with neighbouring trades and suppliers.

The Plough now appeals to a wide ranging demographic with an offer that varies throughout the day to make the venue trade at its optimum level. The success of The Plough could not have been achieved without our detailed research of demographics, competition and opportunity analysis.
