2017 Residential Awards

Open to all developers, this category recognises the best in multiple home developments. Recognising new builds of properties of 3 or more within the Residential sector that most effectively demonstrates high levels of user satisfaction and comfort and deliver outstanding measured building performance alongside exceptional interiors. With no budget limitations this is a category aimed at all levels of the home build market.

Open to experienced established designers, based in the North. This award is the perfect platform through which to showcase your abilities and achievements.
What makes you stand out from your competition? Provide examples of recently finished projects that you feel best exhibits your style. They need to know about the projects from concept to completion. What was your original brief and how did you work with your client to achieve this? How did you and your client feel about the finished project? If relevant you may want to include feedback from your client to support your entry. You can submit up to 3 projects to demonstrate your portfolio of works. -
Open to both interior design practices and individuals, our judging panel is seeking the one outstanding residential design project that embodies Northern style, innovation and design.
To succeed in this category, you will need to enter just one exceptional design scheme, although you can enter more than once. Judges will expect to see complete dedication to delivering excellence on every level and effective use of budget. Meeting the client's’ brief and needs are key along with delivering within both financial and time limits. Feedback from your clients and peers can be used to support your application. -

Open to conversion developments in the North, whether it’s a single barn conversion or an industrial building converted into apartments, all forms of sympathetic conversions are welcome.
Open to both individuals and practices, the judges are looking for innovative solutions and interesting, sympathetic means of incorporating the existing building features into the final design. The renovation and conversion of existing buildings creates some of the most design-rich new property available and breathing new life with sustainability into old buildings can be one of the greatest challenges for developers, architects and interior designers. Judges will be looking for information on the history of the site, design influences as well as interior specifications. Eligibility: Residential properties converted into multiple properties are eligible for entry. Extensions to current homes are not eligible. Submissions are welcomed from architects, builders and developers. Entries into this category will also be considered for Build of the Year if shortlisted as a finalist. -

Winning the highly coveted title of Residential Architectural Practice will catapult our winners onto the national and international stage, providing the perfect springboard for lasting success.

Open to landscape architects, landscape design practitioners and garden designers based in the North. Judges are seeking captivating entries of exceptional spaces created on any budget.
Judges are seeking a winning scheme commissioned for a domestic residence. Provide an example of a recently finished project that you feel best exhibits your work. provide details of the concept stage, budget given and materials used to achieve the overall finished design. If relevant you may want to include feedback from your client to support your entry. You can make multiple entries if you wish. (Only one project per entry) -

Recognising new builds within the Residential sector that most effectively demonstrates high levels of user satisfaction and comfort and delivers outstanding measured building performance, energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions alongside exceptional interiors. With no budget limitations this is a category aimed at luxury end of the home build market.

This category is open to all commercial projects and judges will be looking for schemes that are sensitive to the client’s individual needs, resulting in builds with long-term appeal for the people who visit or work within the building nominated. Judges will reward innovation, sustainability, flair and individuality and will be looking for commercial properties that they feel will stand the test of time. Entries into this category will also be considered for Build of the Year if shortlisted as a finalist. -

2017 Design and Retail

Open to kitchen retailers in the North. Often referred to as ‘the heart of the home’, the addition of a perfect kitchen defines a great many houses. This award recognises the achievements of those retailers who exceed our expectations in terms of design, delivery and service.
The judges want to know why your business stands out from the rest. What kind of clients do you work with? Which brands do you sell and what is the history of your business? Judges will also be looking for great store presentation and showroom displays and will also be considering brand selection and services offered. You can enter up to 5 projects to demonstrate your range of products and services. Client testimonials may be used to support your entry. -
Open to impressive interior designed retail spaces including shops, fashion-led venues, boutiques, salons and showrooms. This award honours the best in retail environment layout and design.
The judges are not looking for the biggest space, or the biggest budget. They’re looking for how you’ve managed the space and resources available and how your entry makes your business stand out from your competitors. Rewarding retailers who go the extra mile to showcase their brands and products, this category sees fierce competition from retailers creating show-stopping retail designs, displays and window decorations to showcase brands at their best. -
Open to all designers, manufacturers and makers based in the North who create practical, beautiful designed products for either public or commercial use. From furniture to wallpaper and everything in between - we want to hear about the real ‘design and make’ success stories from the North.

Open to all individual designers and practices in the North. The sky's the limit when designing without the boundaries of materials or budgets and this category showcases conceptual architectural design concepts.
Judges are looking for inspirational and unique commercial or residential conceptual designs, created solely with visual software. These can be submitted in any form of visualisation programs.
